When something goes wrong
These are practical starting points. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
- Inappropriate contentYour child saw something sexual, violent, or otherwise upsetting that they did not go looking for, or did.
- CyberbullyingYour child is being targeted, left out on purpose, or is watching that happen to someone else.
- Stranger contactSomeone your child does not know in person is messaging them, asking for photos, or trying to move the chat off the app.
- Lost phoneThe phone is missing and may simply be misplaced.
- Stolen phoneSomeone took the phone.
- Account compromiseSomeone else can send messages, buy things, or change settings on an account.
- Unauthorized purchaseMoney was spent on an app, a subscription, or an in-app item without permission.
- Secret accountYou learned about an account, app, or profile that was not part of the agreement.
- Inappropriate group chatA group chat has become cruel, sexual, threatening, or humiliating.
- Inappropriate imageA sexual or humiliating image of a real person is on the phone or was sent.
- Unwanted sexual contentSomeone sent sexual messages or images, or is pressuring your child to send some.
- AI-generated fake imageSomeone used AI to make a fake or sexualized image of a real student, teacher, or family member.
- Threatening messageA message threatens violence or tells a child to hurt themselves or someone else.
- Concerning message from a friendA friend sent something that sounds like they might be in trouble, being hurt, or planning to hurt themselves.
